As some of you may know I am a big proponent of Dragon Voice recognition usage within an EHR. I think the ‘clinical color’ of medicine is often lost when one uses some of the boiler plate templates. For example, I use VR in the HPI section of my note as I can “tell the story” a lot clearer this way. I do use Dragon macros within my physical exam section and sometimes in my “Plan” section.
According to a survey completed by 1,255 physicians who have adopted Nuance’s Dragon Medical software:
- 83 percent said that it improved the quality of their electronic patient notes;
- 81 percent said that it significantly reduced transcription spending; and,
- 69 percent said it made their EHR faster and easier to use.
